Although this customer had been using our Jira app, Automated Release Notes & Reports, for some time, they frequently queried whether it could distribute release notes or reports directly on Slack.
While we did support posting a JSON webhook to a Slack channel, Slack’s specific JSON format caused inconsistencies, and users had to manually create and maintain separate webhooks for each channel. There was also the option to send emails from ARN to Slack channel’s dedicated email address, but these messages often resulted in poorly formatted message layouts, leading to a less-than-ideal presentation.
So, the customer was looking for an easy way to customize the content & layout of messages being sent to Slack channels from Jira.
